2020 has been a doozy of a year for me. I spent the majority of my year in a state of flux. Early in the year, things were looking really good. Airbnb was set up, I started a great job with Conventus, and I was presenting at different conferences.
But then COVID hit and everything changed. Occupancy at Airbnb dropped and I got furloughed from my job. For the first time, I had to take unemployment insurance.
Nevertheless, some great things also happened this year. I broke 1000 Subs on YouTube and am now making some revenue on the platform. Also, I got over 200 episodes on the podcast, and I now have over 1500 people in the Meetup group.
I feel very optimistic for 2021 and have a good set up. So, here are my goals for 2021.
My goal is to get 1000 consistent listeners per episode.
I’ll continue producing one episode a week, and will focus on people who I meet personally who have interesting stories.
In the past, I get random people who reached out via their podcast scheduler. These guests were great, but I had no prior knowledge of who they were. It’s much better to interview someone you’ve heard about or are excited to talk to.
My goal for meetups is to get 100 members to attend each meeting. I’ll host 2 events per month, one for networking, and one focused on info and learning. In this business, your network is your net worth so it’s always good to meet more people. If you guys want, you can find my meetup group at meetup.com/everythingrei. It’s free and I invite you all to join!
My goal is to do $10 M in sales per month. I’ll achieve this by working more and by presenting on other people’s meetups and podcasts. If you’re a meetup leader or podcast host, let me know if you need a speaker 😀
Sharon and I have a course that’s coming out on out of state investing. If you want to learn how to invest in out of state rental properties, let me know if you’d be interested in getting a free copy in exchange for a video testimonial!
Next year I plan on helping my dad and clients who come from my Youtube channel to buy houses. The market is incredibly competitive so I’ve been helping them find properties off-market instead.
I’ll be focusing on the quality of the videos. I started learning more about keyword search and even purchased Tubebuddy to help me with my SEO. My stretch goal is to get to 20,000 subscribers by the end of 2021.
I plan on putting a hold on flipping homes in the Bay Area for a moment. However, I’m always open to looking at opportunities to help analyze. I’m currently building up my list of wholesalers and cash buyers. So if you’re a wholesaler or cash buyer, hit me up!
Sharon and I might go out of state to buy another property. I want to get more hands-on with projects and showcase them on Youtube. I’ll be focusing on buying more cash flowing rentals and possibly showcasing those projects as we rehab them to rent-ready condition.
I tried posting content on Instagram but wasn’t seeing a lot of traction. I’ll be moving most of my social efforts to create content on LinkedIn.
Sharon has been getting good traction on shorts, so we’ll try it too. I’ll try to release one a week.
Goal setting isn’t just about setting high goals, it’s writing down the steps to get there as well.
What are your goals for 2021 and how are you going to get there? Let me know in the comments section!
